Merry Christmas from Lodi

I am currently blogging from Lodi, California. I'm not stuck here, however, if you were wondering (any Creedence fans out there?). We're here for the week with Steve's family.

Steve and I caught a cold a few days before Christmas, because as we all know, our bodies love to malfunction at the most perfect times. Nevertheless, we have had a wonderful time celebrating the holidays together. In true family fashion, there has been an abundance of games, presents and baked goods. And since this is Lodi, home of the best Old Vine Zinfandel, we're all going wine tasting today.

Being here for Christmas has reminded me of how grateful I am to have been graced with a wonderful in-law family. I love, love, love Steve's parents and siblings, and it's always a joy to spend time with them.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

  2. Umm, at first I thought maybe you were blogging from Lodi, Ohio, home of wonderous outlet malls and truck stops galore. But I'm sure Lodi, California, is way, way better, hahaha.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  4. Honestly, I've been stuck in Lodi 2 times.

Once with my father and an overheated truck, once because of a bad water pump. All in all, it's not that bad of a place to be stuck.

    Happy Holidays!

  6. COOL!!! Which Kitchen Aid attachments did you get? How great are those machines?! It sat on my counter for a year after I got it b/c I was intimidated by it or something. Needless to say - I have overcome that!

  7. I'm so jealous that you're going wine tasting! There's nothing like good wine to kill nasty little cold germs :)

  8. I thought I was the only one who knew about Lodi, Ohio! There's an absolutely darling little shop there called The Lodi Log Cabin. They sell an assortment of wilderness merchandise . . . raw gun stocks for making your own gun, muzzle loaders, enormous hunting knives, huge stretches of leather, and books on buckskinning and wilderness lifestyle. It's charming. You should go there, next time you're in Lodi, Ohio.

Our bodies like to malfunction at the best times because when we break out of our routine--you know, by eating strange, rich foods, traveling, and skimping on sleep--our bodies say, "I don't think so, missy." I managed to get ridiculously sick when I went to Hawai'i to visit Candiss, and I'm still convinced that it was the change in diet and sleep patterns. So get lots of sleep and get back to eating normally as soon as possible. Oh, and exercise!

  10. Family: We had a nice Christmas celebration (including the traditional family football game) with other parts of the family and family-to-be.

Traveling: I owned several of the early Credence vinyl record albums, but I digress ... I am currently stuck on Maui (since yesterday, Wed.) with my car, stranded by cancelled voyages of the Hawaii Super Ferry (hawaiisuperferry.com) because of rough seas ... tomorrow's voyage has already been cancelled, and current status for Saturday's voyage is "marginal" ...
