To boost my spirits and not have a completely downer of a day, I decided to create a list of things that make me happy. Here goes...
- Sitting outside on the porch, enjoying the last days of summer.
- Getting ready for a weekend trip to the mountains of Colorado.
- Thai food that gets delivered right to your door.
- Lying in front of the fireplace.
- Getting something personal and unexpected in the mail.
- Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, who bring laughter amidst our country's financial crisis and political mayhem.
- Double dates.
- Breaking out the scarves, coats and boots.
- The pile of fiction books lying next to my nightstand that I'm slowly making my way through.
- Dreaming up a great costume for Halloween.
- The chocolate-y, fudge-y goodness of Moose Tracks ice cream.
- Afternoon naps.
- Finding a perfectly-fitting Banana Republic wool coat at Goodwill for $8.99.
- Good Morning hugs from my husband.
- Cooking all day, and hosting dinner parties for friends.
All of those things sound like they'd be on my list! I can't believe you found a BR coat so cheap! I'm jealous. I am so excited for boot weather as well! I think I'm going to treat myself to a new pair this year. :)
ReplyDeleteThe flu = a fever and joint aches.
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't have a fever with a regular cold.
I hope you feel better!
thai delivery? unfair.
ReplyDeletethis is a delicious post. i admire your positivity and i'm sorry you don't feel well.
ReplyDeleteman i swear everyone is sick these days, i'm hopefully getting over whatever version of sick i just had, oy. hope you and steve feel better.
ReplyDeleteas for making me happy, the weekend, the weekend always makes me happy :)
that and the fact that it's not 97 today, but rather 79 like it should be in october, woo.
All of the things that cheer you up make me happy too!! I loved them except I've never seen John Swedart?? I don't think I spelled his name right...is he funny??

Hearing good news from friends brightens my day. C:
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon! The flu/cold (I can never tell the difference either) sucks ... and it seems like everyone has a variant of it right now! *crosses fingers* ... I don't. Yet.
ReplyDeleteThings that make me happy...
- walking the dog at sunset
- being productive
- going to live productions ... the ballet, opera, broadway, theater, etc.
- cooking for the family
Love your list, especially the first one on it! :)
Oh this one's easy....
ReplyDeleteBeing back home in Hawaii. ;-)
I love a good thrift store find.
ReplyDeleteHey Lariss,
ReplyDeleteHearing from you always brightens my day.
ALSO:
*Wind with a (ever so slight) chill in the air.
*Birthday surprises--I got a tiny lil laptop (more of a kneetop)--a EeePC
*The red velvet cake a new friend made me.
*my sister's new blog about her chihuahua
You've just convinced me to visit the Goodwill up the block. sounds like you scored!
A few things that make me smile:
ReplyDelete-Hailee and Emilee
-our new heated tile bathroom floor
-cold foofy microbrewed beer
-a People magazine and a Starbucks
-money found in my newly washed jeans
Goodwill ROCKS!
A breeze that flutters the curtains deliciously.
ReplyDeleteWaking up in the morning in my flannel sheets and being toasty warm when outside the electric blanket and flannel it's cold.
what makes me happy is when I make a trip to the beach just seeing each wave crashing on to the shore. I can never get enough of the sound and sight of the ocean.
ReplyDeleteMmm, the scarves! Yes!
ReplyDeleteCooking and baking brighten my day pretty much every day. But it would make it even brighter if I had more people in my life to eat the food I make. And even brighter if someone would pay me to make the food. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better!
Nothing beats personal mail in the actual mailbox. Personal e-mails always brighten my days, too, but there's something really nice about anything hand-written.
ReplyDeleteHope the weekend left you recharged and recovered!
I hope you guys feel better soon! ANd all of those things are a guaranteed better day! :)
ReplyDeleteThe first sip of a cup of coffee in the morning. I swear it's like mouth heaven. Oh, also your granola.
ReplyDeleteFeel better!
ReplyDeleteThings that make me feel good? Hot cocoa. Mmmm.
