Happy Thanksgiving

The holiday season has officially arrived in our home. Scarves and coats have made their way out of storage. We're all stocked on firewood and hot chocolate. Yesterday I spent the afternoon trimming the house with festive decorations.

We'll be spending the weekend feasting and relaxing with Steve's side of the family. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, particularly because it gives me an opportunity to pause and reflect on what I am thankful for in life.

Here are the things I'm especially grateful for this year:

I'm thankful for a job in walking distance of my house. I'm thankful for flannel pajamas and cheese. I'm thankful for television shows that really serve as an excuse to get together with dear friends. I'm thankful for a crock pot that cooks delicious, hearty meals with a press of a button. I'm thankful for parents and siblings who freely give hugs and say, "I love you." I'm thankful for the rare rainy evenings that cleanse Los Angeles. I'm thankful for a husband who lets me cry, makes me laugh, and makes amazing lattes in the morning. I'm thankful for hearing our baby's healthy heartbeat at the doctor's office. I'm thankful for Post-It notes and hot showers and fuzzy house slippers. I'm thankful for a cozy home with a sturdy roof, a fireplace and a warm bed. I'm thankful for Chinese food. I'm thankful for the people on speed dial who I can call at any time for any reason. I'm thankful for Saturday mornings spent baking and watching college football. I'm thankful for coffee shops with comfy armchairs.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving that reminds you of the things that bring joy in your life!

  7. I thought you wrote "we'll be fasting and relaxing" and I thought "how counter-cultural of you." But it's equally cool that you'll be feasting-- boy, what a difference an 'e' makes!
