My lack of celebrity knowledge really cost me last night. In a conversation about the Jonas Brothers (do not ask me why that was even the topic to begin with), Steve mentioned Joe Jonas. "Joe Jonas??? That's NOT one of their names!" I scoffed at my husband for his pathetic grasp of pop culture. "Yes it is." "No it's not." "Okay, let's find out," said Steve, taking out the magical contraption of knowledge known as the iPhone. Like any normal married couple would do, we made a quick bet. The loser would have to cook a nice breakfast for the winner. Six seconds later, I was deemed the official breakfast maker for the following morning. Darn you, Joe Jonas.
- Well, I finally took the plunge. I joined the world of Twitter. It was clearly a moment of pure insanity because 1) I already have enough to distract me as it is, and 2) my life is about to get even more complex with a little thing called parenthood. I'm not sure what possessed me to cave in. Boredom? Apparently, everyone and their grandma already has a Twitter account, so find me @larissalmarks.
- My parents celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary yesterday! They are two wonderful people with a great marriage that deserves celebrating. Happy 30 Years, Mom and Dad!
- I made two huge batches of gumbo in the last 48 hours. Why? Because gumbo is that delicious and fun to make. We also had a large quantity of onions and peppers that were begging to be used. If you visit us for dinner within the next 6 months, you can be pretty certain we'll be serving you gumbo.
Yum, gumbo! I'd love to come visit and taste your recipe!

Thanks, Joe Jonas. I never much liked your music, but you earned me some oatmeal (and a smoothie!) this morning. Go humans go.
